By Rosalind Russell – Ontario is moving ahead with a 25 per cent surcharge on energy heading south of the border. Premier Doug Ford says it’s time for the chaos and uncertainty around tariffs to end. He says new market rules are in effect that require any generator selling electricity to Michigan, New York and Minnesota to add a 25 per cent surcharge. Minister of Energy and Electrification Stephen Lecce says the surcharge will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue a day for Ontario.
Ford says if the U-S escalates the situation he won’t hesitate from cutting off the power all together.
