By Rosalind Russell – The province has introduced a new Act, it says will unlock free trade and labour mobility within the country.
If passed, officials say it will create new opportunities for job creation and investment attraction, and help protect and grow Ontario’s and Canada’s economies.
Premier Doug Ford says the legislation introduced yesterday will make Ontario a national leader when it comes to trade between provinces and territories, so we can strengthen and unify Canada and create new markets for workers and goods.
The province says the new legislation will support free trade by removing all party-specific exceptions under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement, and encourage other provinces, territories and the feds to follow suit.
It will also allow workers Canada-wide to come to work in Ontario by removing administrative burdens and more.
The province says Memorandums of Understanding are being signed with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to support the removal of barriers.
