AB Ellis and Espanola High collaborate on nursing home project

By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola Nursing Home has collaborated with two local schools to add colour to its outside gathering space.

Last week, Whitney Gray, and five Grade 8 students from A.B. Ellis Public School were joined by Espanola High School’s Gabe Keresztesi and his Construction Technology students to complete the final stages of their wheelchair accessible planter project at the home.

The construction crew built three planters, placed in various locations throughout the nursing home, which residents will be able to enjoy for years to come.

The residents were also thrilled to help the students plant a wide variety of flowers and tomato plants.

They ended the day with a party to celebrate the completion of the project.

Espanola Nursing home thanks the students, construction technology students from Espanola High School, Veteran’s Transportation and Espanola Home Hardware for their support with the project.
