Art gallery part of new heritage centre in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake Arts and Heritage Centre used to be a cinema but has been renovated to house studios for artisans and other members of the Elliot Lake Arts Club.

A year ago, ARIEL, the local artist group, applied to add something extra to the building that would welcome all residents of Elliot Lake – an art gallery.

This week, city council voted to accept an agreement between the municipal body and ARIEL making ARIEL the property manager for the building, as well as the gallery operator.

The group will now focus on the facility as well as welcoming the local Railroad Club, which will also be housed in the building.
