Big increase for Wiikwemkoong Police Service

By Rosalind Russell – Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory will see a big increase in the number of police officers soon.

Chief Rachel Manitowabi says the Wiikwemkoong Tribal Police Services has secured a new agreement with Ontario and Canada, which will mean an additional 14 new officers added to the service.

She says the governments and police services have been working hard to up the number of officers to implement enhanced safety and security within the community. 

The hiring process has already begun with two new officers, Cst. Roger Assinewe and Cst. Daniel Young already hired to round out the roster.
