Canada Post making offers to avoid strike

By Rosalind Russell – Canada Post says it has presented new global offers to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers – aimed at avoiding a work stoppage.

The crown corporation says the new proposals offer higher wage increases – and responds to the challenges facing the country’s postal service.

Canada Post lost 3 billion dollars between 2018 and 2023 – and nearly half a billion dollars in the first half of this year.

Employees voted 95 percent in favour of a strike mandate – with a disruption possible as early as

Sunday.
