Cases of gastrointestinal increasing in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Elliot Lake says the cases of gastrointestinal infections are increasing so visitor restrictions have been put in place.

Hospital CEO Jeremy Stevenson says the outbreak that was declared on both floors at the long-term care home by Algoma Public Health last week is ongoing with case numbers increasing.

He stresses currently, they are strongly encouraging all visitors to limit their visitation for essential or compassionate reasons only.

For more information, contact the health unit or the hospital directly.
