Celebrating seniors in fine style in Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – The Elks Hall in Espanola was full this past weekend celebrating local seniors as part of the Paul and Hester Zahorec Seniors’ Dinner.

The Espanola Lions Club hosts the annual event to say thank you to around 200 seniors who contribute to the community.

This year it partnered with the Espanola branch of the Northern Credit Union who helped at the club’s barbecues with the $800 raised being donated to Espanola’s Boogie Mountain.

The dinner has been a long-time tradition in memory of the late Zahorecs, long-time volunteers with the club over several decades.

The Lions were also assisted by the Elks, Louise Eccleston and the Espanola Figure Skating Club.
