Collège Notre-Dame students raise some $17,000 for Northern Cancer Research Foundation

By Rosalind Russell – In late April, some 120 secondary school students from Collège Notre-Dame in Sudbury took part in its annual Northern Cancer Research Foundation fundraising blitz.

Collège Notre-Dame Principal Ms. Mélanie Leblanc says students went door-to-door collecting $16,921.

She adds the display of commitment to this initiative on the part of our students and staff demonstrates exceptional compassion.

Since the inception of this drive close to 35 years ago, close to $780,000 has been collected by students of the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon.

Red Dress Day—also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirit People is observed annually on May 5. Local First Nations throughout our districts are hosting ceremonies and memorial walks. Visit your local First Nation websites for more information.
