CUPW announces national strike that will cause delays for Canadians as holiday shopping season begins

By Rosalind Russell – Canada Post workers are on strike after failing to reach a negotiated agreement with their employer.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers says approximately 55,000 workers are striking, claiming little progress has been made in the bargaining process.

Canada Post’s operations are shut down during a national strike, affecting millions of Canadians and businesses nationwide.

Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered during the national strike, and some post offices will be closed.

Service guarantees will be impacted for items already in the postal network and no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

Once operations resume, all mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis.
