By Rosalind Russell – Cadets, veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and supporters gathered this weekend on Manitoulin Island this weekend for Decoration Day.
Every year, Royal Canadian Legion Branches 177 – Little Current and 514 – Western Manitoulin hosted the annual ceremony to pay respect to the Canadian Armed Forces, past and present, and the country’s allies.
Due to the rain the service was moved to the Mindemoya Arena on Sunday afternoon and included a parade, the laying the wreaths, and keynote speakers acknowledging the contributions of veterans.
