Dedicated teen doing 300 kilometer run from Sault Ste. Marie to Sudbury for diabetes research

By Rosalind Russell – He’s finding it a lot harder than he thought it would be, but a Grade 12 teen from Central Algoma Secondary School is running this week for diabetes research.

As part of his sociology class and because he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2020, Talon King started his run from the Soo to Sudbury last Tuesday to raise funds for diabetes.

Just reaching Blind River today, he is finding the run difficult, especially with the cold temperatures, but he is dedicated to wants to finish.

King started up a Go Fund Me and is about halfway to his $5,000 goal, adding there might never be a cure for his condition in his lifetime so raising the money is only part of the goal, knowledge is the second.
