Dedication of new park and splash pad in Espanola

By Rosalind Russell – A park project that has taken years to come to fruition will be formally dedicated today in Espanola.

The Foster family of Espanola is expected to attend the dedication of a park in their late patriarch’s name today.

William (Bill) Foster passed away suddenly a year ago this June while still serving as deputy mayor of Espanola.

One of the key projects he worked on was the establishment of a splash pad and revamped playground at Sherwood Park.

Today, the town will formally rename it the William P. Foster Park acknowledging Foster’s commitment to Espanola over the years especially this project, which held a special place in his heart.

The ceremony, which will be held at 11:30 am this morning, will include a few words from family members, and a statement from Mayor Gervais and council.

The public is invited to enjoy a bit of splish splash with their families following the formal dedication.
