Elliot Lake Fishing Derby attracts nearly two hundred fishers, but no fish

By Rosalind Russell – One of the area’s largest fish derbies attracted nearly 200 anglers, but no fish.

On Saturday, 182 people took part in the Elliot Lake Fishing Derby, but not one fish was caught during the three-hour event.

However, the organizers, RTR Right Track Racing, provided tickets to all the participants and held a draw to distribute the prizes.

The first prize, $9,100, half of the proceeds raised, was won by Jeremy Howard of Elliot Lake with the rest of the merchandise prizes distributed to other participants.

The derby was moved from Horne Lake to Spine Beach for accessibility and safety reasons last year.
