By Rosalind Russell – The City of Elliot Lake has completed construction of a new columbarium for its cemetery.
According to the release, the project was coordinated by the clerk’s department and Nelson Granite, which provided the craftsmanship and quality materials to ensure the columbarium is functional and a fitting tribute for those who will rest there.
The Public Works and Parks departments also assisted in the installation and ongoing landscaping efforts
The city will be naming the new structure soon and will notify the public of when the niches will be available for purchase for loved ones.
Columbarium’s have become a popular above ground choice for families to provide a final resting place for those who have been cremated with the niches usually offering space for up to two individuals.
