Elliot Lake wins Kraft Hockeyville

By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake has been crowned Kraft Hockeyville 2024.

That means the City will get $250,000 in upgrades to Centennial Arena, $10,000 in brand new equipment from the N-H-L-P-A Goals and Dreams Fund, as well as the opportunity to host an NHL Pre-season game.

It’s a win for Northern Ontario, as thousands from across the North took time to vote for Elliot Lake on Friday and Saturday as they battled Cochrane, Alberta, Wolseley, Saskatchewan, and Enderby, British Columbia for the chance to win.

Last fall, public access to Elliot Lake’s arena was closed and programming at the arena was cancelled after it was deemed unsafe.

The winner was announced during last Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada broadcast.
