Emergency preparedness personnel put into place

By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake council has supported putting into place two key emergency preparedness personnel.

City Fire Chief John Thomas says Sarah Robb has returned after a temporary leave to fill the Community Emergency Management Coordinator position.

He also asked that Steve Antunes be designated as the Emergency Information Officer.

Thomas noted that the personnel is mandated under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act to prepare for and respond to emergency situations occurring within their jurisdictions.

Council supported the motion. The work will continue to ensure the city’s Emergency Preparedness Plan is updated and available to deal with any emergency scenario.
