By Rosalind Russell – The province has reached a tentative central agreement with over 45-thousand English Catholic teachers.
Education Minister Stephen Lecce says if the deal is ratified, it ensures no province-wide teacher job action or strikes in all English-language Catholic publicly funded schools for the next three years.
He adds for the first time in nearly a generation, the government has successfully negotiated deals with all teacher unions that averted strikes or the withdrawal of services.
The English Catholic Teachers union says the deal was reached after a difficult round of negotiations, with more than 20 months of bargaining.
