Espanola adopts Strategic Plan

By Rosalind Russell – Espanola council unanimously adopted the Strategic Plan for the municipality, which will be a guiding living document for the next four years.

The Strategic Plan covers the time period from this year through to 2027.

It recognizes the improvements underway, those planned, as well as the challenges, such as housing for families and seniors, aging infrastructure, vacant properties, and others.

It outlines various strategic goals such as housing, infrastructure, economy, mental health, support of small and large businesses and more.

Mayor Doug Gervais commended the staff, the consultants, and the community at large for the work carried out over the last year in finalizing the document.

Copies of the document will be available to the public at the town office by early next week.

It outlines six strategic goals: housing, infrastructure, economy, town government, pride of place and quality of life bringing in all facets of community living including mental health, social development, support of small and large businesses and more.
