Espanola Council appoints Joseph Burke as next Chief Administrative Officer-Clerk

The Town of Espanola Council has appointed Joseph Burke as the Chief Administrative Officer  – Clerk for Corporation of the Town of Espanola.

Following the recent resignation of CAO-Treasurer Allan Hewitt, Council reorganized administrative leadership responsibilities including the appointment of Burke and the recruitment of a Treasurer.         
 
“Since joining the Town in 2021 as the Town Clerk/Manager of Planning Services, Joseph has demonstrated his leadership, experience, judgement and his commitment to the Town. I am pleased that Joseph will be leading our administration and Council looks forward to collaborating with him to manage the Town in a fiscally responsible way” said Mayor Douglas Gervais. 

“I am excited to get started and honoured to serve as the CAO-Clerk for the Town of Espanola. I look forward to working with Council and the great team of staff we have at the Town. I also look forward to working with our local businesses, community organizations and residents to increase the prosperity of the Town,” said Burke.  
 
Burke is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and French Studies, as well as Laurentian University, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Indigenous Relations.

Burke also holds certificates in Municipal Administration and Planning from the Association of  Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario.
 

Burke commences his new role on February 5th, 2024.
