By Rosalind Russell – Espanola council is expected to pass the 2023 municipal budget tomorrow evening with a slight increase.
The increase will be the first in several years with previous councils pulling funds from reserves to maintain the tax rate.
The new budget reflects an increase to the overall net levy of $308,940 or 3.97% from 2022.
In 2023, the average residential assessment in the Town of Espanola is $158,099 so households will see an average increase of $87 per year.
The increase comes because of water and wastewater upgrades, and transportation.
