Espanola grocery stores partner with Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank

By Rosalind Russell – The FreshCo and Your Independent Grocers stores in Espanola are partnering with the local Espanola Helping Hand Food Bank.

FreshCo is matching any donations made in-store from December 7th to 28th directly to the food bank.

YIG has set up bags of goods starting at $5 to stock the shelves.

The two say food insecurity affects many aspects of people’s lives, adding donations not only fill the shelves but also provide the food banks with the ability to purchase needed items such as fresh produce, baby formula or daily essentials.

In addition, the Espanola Public Library is also taking in donations of non-perishable items in their own drive that runs until the end of the month.
