Espanola’s former school site being transformed to a parking lot

By Rosalind Russell – The work is well underway to transform the former site of the original AB Ellis Public School in Espanola into a parking lot.

The Rainbow District School Board has designed parking spaces on the site across from the shared Espanola High and AB Ellis schools for teachers, staff, and the public for parking.

The demolition of the original building, which was over 100 years old took place last fall and through the winter.

The board has also said it would keep some of the property as green space for public use.

The work is set to be finished in time for the start of the school year next Wednesday.
