By Rosalind Russell – Ontario is putting forward a new plan in hopes of attracting more people to fight wildfires.
An incentive of up to five thousand dollars will be given to employees in front line positions such as fire and aviation, ahead of the upcoming fire season.
Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry Graydon Smith says more than one thousand first responders are eligible for the money.
He says the extra cash in the pockets of first responders is part of the province’s five-million dollar plan to protect residents this summer.
