By Rosalind Russell – East Algoma OPP reports that the missing five-year-old girl and mother from Mississauaga First Nation have been found, adding charges of abduction have been laid.
Constable Bev Gauthier says the search began a week ago Monday when the pair had left Mississauga First Nation but did not show up for an appointment.
She says other police services were also called in and this past Saturday, shortly after 7:00 p.m., the OPP found the two after stopping a vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 17 near Dryden.
Gauthier says the woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with abduction in contravention of court order.
She adds the driver, a 68-year-old man from Blind River is also charged with abduction of a person under 14, flight from police, speeding, failing to stop for police and driving with cannabis readily available.
She says both appeared before the bail court in Dryden, and both were remanded into custody.
