By Rosalind Russell – The Elliot Lake Firefighters raised $17,000 during their annual Christmas Food Drive this Saturday.
Elliot Lake Food Bank president, Leonard Kutchaw says the annual event is one of their major fundraisers and this year was yet another great success.
He says the food bank has experienced about a 38 % increase in usage so the funds will help ensure they start 2024 with enough inventory.
Kutchaw adds they handed 290 bags last year but will be distributing around 400 bags containing items suitable for a Christmas dinner just before the holiday.
He adds donations are always accepted at the food bank.
