By Rosalind Russell – The Gore Bay Swim Beach has seen a major overhaul, just in time for the community’s annual Harbour Days.
Mayor Ron Lane says the beach area has been enlarged, there is a longer dock, more play toys for the little ones and a refurbished fully accessible boardwalk.
He adds not only will it be a great family gathering place for Harbour Days the fourth weekend in July, but also for the first time in many years, swimming lessons will be offered in August.
New public washrooms to service the waterfront and downtown Gore Bay have also been installed by local contractors, and the McQuarrie Gazebo has been refurbished with a new steel roof, walls and interior lighting adding to the beauty of the town’s waterfront and view of the big water.
