By Rosalind Russell – A $5,000 grant from Trans Canada Trail will be split between four Voyageur Trail Association clubs, including the Penewobikong Hiking Group.
That trail is found in the area between Blind River and Iron Bridge with plans to use the funding to improve drainage and address surface concerns on the trail to Firetower Mountain as well as promote the association at the Blind River Community Days to be held in July.
The other three clubs are in the Sault Ste. Marie, Terrace Bay, and Marathon areas.
The Trail Care program is a granting initiative supported by Trans Canada Trail, the organization that maintains Canada’s 28,000 km trail network.
