Health Sciences North changing procedures after a dead man was found in parking lot

By Rosalind Russell – Health Sciences North says a process change has been made in response to the discovery of a man’s body inside a car that was parked for several weeks in the hospital parking lot this spring.

Greater Sudbury Police say the body of 62-year-old Rae Cameron was discovered by hospital staff inside a parked vehicle on June 10th.

Police add they had been reported missing in March, and it is unknown how long his body had been in the vehicle.

Police confirm no foul play is suspected in the man’s death.

Hospital communications officer Didier Pilon said an administrative change has been made at the hospital in response to the incident with HSN updating its process for reports of abandoned vehicles in the parking lot.

He adds an internal review is still underway to look at other improvements, adding the safety of staff and visitors remains a priority.
