Hillside Drive North project up for discussion at Elliot Lake Council

By Rosalind Russell – Elliot Lake council will be considering expending millions of dollars on reconstruction of a major byway in the city, Hillside Drive North, at its regular council tonight.

Public Works Acting Director Bill Goulding will be recommending council approve a bid from a Chelmsford firm to replace the road and related infrastructure at a cost of nearly $9.5-million dollars.

The funds would come from reserves, although the city can apply for grants to help offset some of the costs.

The city received three bids for the project and is expected to make the decision for the project this evening with the work to begin in early Spring, replacing road from the Highway 108 intersection to Beech Road.
