Home lost to fire in Espanola

The Espanola Fire Department called in their mutual aid, the Baldwin Fire Department to put out a residential fire this morning in Espanola.

Espanola Fire Chief Mike Pichor says they received the 911 call just after midnight but the crews were unable to save the home.

He says one of the two occupants suffered burns to his hand, but both were able to get out safely.

Pichor adds the fire started in a bedroom, but he is still investigating the cause.

He estimates the damage to be around $300,000 since the home was a total loss.

The investigation continues.
