Hospital under visitor’s restrictions again due to outbreak

By Rosalind Russell – Barely a month after removing all visitors’ restrictions in place over the last three years, the hospital in Elliot Lake has had to put them back in place following a COVID-19 outbreak.

Algoma Public Health declared the outbreak on the third floor of St. Joseph’s General Hospital yesterday so general visitation is now restricted to designated essential care partners on the medical/surgical floor.

According to the release, the community is urged to continue practicing good hand hygiene and to follow public health guidelines, such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing, to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
