Indian Residential School Monument seeking names

By Rosalind Russell – The Anishinabek Nation is looking for names for the Indian Residential School Monument.

According to the release, in 2013, the Anishinabek Nation unveiled the monument to pay tribute to Anishinabek Nation First Nations citizens, living or deceased, who attended Indian Residential Schools.

They are now looking for the names of individuals from the 39 Anishinabek Nation First Nations including all the First Nation communities within the districts of Algoma, Manitoulin Island, and Sudbury.

If you wish to have an individual’s name honoured on this monument, the consent form is to be completed by the individual themselves or by an authorized family member on their behalf.
