By Rosalind Russell – A Manitoulin Island business has been recognized by the province for its unique ownership.
The provincial Women’s Excellence award was presented last Friday to the Split Rail Brewing Company of Gore Bay.
The company produces beer and soda and was founded by two women, Andrea Smith and Eleanor Charlton, who began brewing in a garage in 2010 and opened the Island’s first craft brewery in 2015.
Rob Flack, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness says this year’s Excellence in Agriculture Award winners inspire him and demonstrate the extent of the talent that sets Ontario agri-food apart in a competitive global market.
