Mining company updating public on progress for trap rock quarry

By Rosalind Russell – A mining company that is looking to open a trap rock quarry in Algoma Mills will be updating the public on the project this week.

Rankin Construction will be at Serpent River First Nation this Wednesday, April 26th from 5-7 pm for a presentation and community discussion as part of the consultation process with the proponent company Darien Aggregates.

The company wants to open a trap rock quarry just north of Lake Lauzon. T1he proposal has met resistance from environmental groups including the Grandmother Council, which will have members in attendance to voice their concerns.
