MPP France Gélinas celebrates Workers’ Memorial Day

By Rosalind Russell – France Gélinas, the MPP for Nickel Belt is marking the 39th annual “Workers’ Memorial Day” with community members this morning in Falconbridge.

MPP Gélinas will take part in this special ceremony to remember those lost in workplace accidents.

The ceremony is in recognition of the anniversary of the June 20th, 1984, mine tragedy at Falconbridge and has since been expanded to remember all workers who have lost their lives due to an on-the-job accident or an industrial disease.

The ceremony gets underway this morning at 9:30 am at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 336 at 66 Edison Road in Falconbridge.
