By Rosalind Russell – Nickel Belt MPP France Gélinas, along with representatives from Transplant 1st, is at Queen’s Park today (Thursday) to discuss the re-introduction of the Peter Kormos Memorial Act (Saving Organs to Save Lives), 2025.
Gélinas says the bill was dropped when the provincial election was called.
She says the bill would ensure that Ontarians have access to organ donation across the province by increasing the supply of available organs through presumed consent, where organs can be donated upon death unless opted out by the individual or their family.
Gelinas adds that the bill is built to address the dire need for more organ donation across the province, as indicated by the stories of patients whose lives are deeply affected by the organ donation process.
