Muscular Dystrophy Canada names Trevor McVey Fire Fighter of the Year

By Rosalind Russell – Muscular Dystrophy Canada has named a local North Shore man as Fire Fighter of the Year.

Trevor McVey, a resident of Nairn & Hyman Township who has many years experience in fire fighting has been acknowledged by the charity for helping raise funds and awareness over the last several years.

Currently he is a member of Muscular Dystrophy Canada’s National Fire Fighter Relations Committee, Ontario Provincial Lead Chair and MD Chairperson for the Nairn & Hyman Fire Department.

In addition to his previous contributions with the Espanola Fire Department, as a firefighter, he led a successful annual ATV Drive, the most recent one was held last weekend, that raised $15,900 to go towards research carried out by the national foundation.
