By Rosalind Russell – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has kicked off its pre-season.
A solid effort saw the Soo Eagles skate to a 6-1 decision over the Elliot Lake Vikings Sunday to wrap-up a four-team Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League exhibition which was held in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Soo Thunderbirds won 7-2 over the Espanola Paper Kings, also held on Sunday at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
The Paper Kings has also lost out the night before against the Soo Eagles who won that contest 6-4.
Espanola did get a win Saturday afternoon though with a shutout of 2 to nothing over the Elliot Lake Vikings.
The NOJHL’s 2024-25 regular season gets underway September 12.
