By Rosalind Russell – Noojmowin Teg, the Indigenous-led health centre serving Espanola, and Manitoulin Island is offering free butchering services for wild game.
However, one-third of the meat must be donated to their Indigenous Food Access Initiative.
Food Medicine Coordinator, Denver Leeson, is overseeing the Harvest to Share program.
He says the donated meat will be distributed across the Manitoulin Island and to Indigenous members under a referral service instituted by the agency.
Leeson can be reached via email at: denver-lesson@noojmowin-teg.ca or phone at: 1-705-969-0527.
