(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for multiple offences in Espanola.
On February 23, 2024, shortly after 3:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver on Station Road in Espanola.
Police located the vehicle on Lee Valley Road and determined the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. After further investigation, a domestic violence investigation also ensued and the driver was arrested.
A 28-year-old person from Espanola was charged with:
- Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
- Mischief under $5,000
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on a later date.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The identity of the accused will not be released to protect the identity of the victim.
