OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(SAGAMOK FIRST NATION, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired driving following a call for service in Sagamok First Nation.

 

On December 16, 2023, shortly before 3:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dispute on Ironwood Street in Sagamok First Nation. Police received further information that one of the involved people had left the residence in a vehicle.

 

Prior to arriving at the residence, police observed a vehicle traveling on River Road. A subsequent traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver, police determined the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported back to the OPP detachment for further testing.

 

As a result of the investigation, Michael PREGENT, 35-years-old, from Sagamok First Nation has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on February 5, 2024.

 

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
