(BALDWIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for multiple offences.
On May 7, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received multiple traffic complaints of an eastbound vehicle traveling on Highway 17 that was driving erratically.
Police located the vehicle in Baldwin Township and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine that the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and police located multiple knives, pepper spray, ammunition, suspected cocaine, and suspected methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, Marc GASCON, 24-years-old from Sudbury has been charged with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
- Unauthorized possession of weapon
- Dangerous operation
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on July 8, 2024.
