By Rosalind Russell – Espanola Hydro has secured some new housing for ospreys at the south end of town.
According to the release, back in 2014, ospreys began nesting on a hydro power pole at the intersection of McCulloch Drive and Highway Six.
To protect them, a temporary platform was installed across the street and has attracted photography buffs throughout the years.
The original platform deteriorated, so the utility built a new platform last week to ensure the nest’s safety.
With spring on its way, the public is now anticipating the return of the birds.
