By Rosalind Russell – The Public Works renovations in Espanola have been completed and the facility is now open to the public.
The building was closed to the public in April to allow for upgrades including a major retrofit to be handicapped accessible.
The public works administrative staff was temporarily based out of the Espanola Fire Hall for in-person assistance during the construction period.
The renovations were needed to meet accessibility requirements under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
The renovations cost around $1-million-dollars with $200,000 of the funding coming out of reserves and the rest from the 2024 tax levy, since there were no grants available for the project.
The public can now receive assistance in the revamped office space.

Despite some small adjustments, a major revamp of the space including having it meet accessibility requirements, has been essentially completed.
