Rainbow students take part in accounting competition today

By Rosalind Russell – Secondary students from Rainbow Schools will test their business acumen at an Accounting Case Study Competition today in Sudbury.

Kerry-Lynn Martel, Curriculum Co-ordinator with the Rainbow board says some 36 business-savvy students in Grades 10 to 12 from Rainbow Schools and Sudbury Catholic Schools will compete in teams of four.

She says students will be given a judging rubric and real-world case study and will have 90 minutes to develop a solution.

Martel says they will then have ten minutes to present their case, and the judges will score the projects to find the winners.

She adds a 500 academic bursary will be given to each member of the successful first place team, as well as a “Discover Accounting Day” with accountants for their class to learn more about the profession.
