


By Rosalind Russell – Rainbow District School Board is hosting its 18th annual Technological Skills Competition in Sudbury over the next two days.
According to the release, around 165 students including some from Espanola, Massey and Manitoulin Island will participate in the Cambrian College competition today and tomorrow at the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 2486 in Azilda.
The secondary students will test their skills in over 20 categories from 2D and 3D character animation, AutoCAD, auto-service technology, carpentry, robotics, and more.
This year’s elementary competition has also doubled in size from last year with over 350 students participating in seven categories, ranging from construction to robotics, technology to TV/ video production and Workplace Safety.
Students are competing to compete at the Skills Ontario Competition on May 5 and 6 in Toronto.
