Residence sustains heavy fire damage in Spanish

By Rosalind Russell – Two fire departments battled a residential fire on Monday morning in the Town of Spanish.

Officials say at around 840 am, the Spanish and Sables Spanish Rivers Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at a residence on Trunk Road.

The residence was completely engulfed with flames on arrival, and two occupants of the residence escaped without injury. 

Officials say there were working smoke alarms in the residence, which sustained extensive damage. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and it is not being treated as suspicious.
