By Rosalind Russell – Well over 100 Espanola seniors took in the annual Seniors +55 Appreciation Day held yesterday.
The seniors were treated to free fitness and swim access at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex in the morning, then a delicious lunch hosted by the Town of Espanola and put together by the Espanola Elks, topped off with booths geared to senior issues set at the complex in the afternoon.
Espanola Mayor Doug Gervais thanked the seniors for all their contributions to the community also pointing out their tremendous value in the volunteer work many of them do in their retirement.
The annual celebration is hosted by the Town of Espanola as a thank you and in celebration of Seniors Month, which is held every June.
