Seniors’ centres get a boost from the Ontario government

By Rosalind Russell – The Ontario government is investing more than $1.6 million in seniors’ services and activities to help more seniors in Northeastern Ontario stay fit, active, healthy, and socially connected in their communities and homes.

Officials say over $1.1 million is being invested in 28 Seniors Active Living Centres across Northeastern Ontario.

In our local area, recipients include $15,000 for the Espanola Senior Citizens Club, just over $57,000 to Elliot Lake’s Renaissance Centre, nearly $21,000 to Gore Bay’s Elderly Persons Centre, and just over $19,000 each to the Township of Assiginack and Sheshegwaning First Nation.
